Fireworks on Coventry Lake

Today is Independence Day in the United States. Every great, on July 4, people in the United States celebrate our independence from Great Britain. We often celebrate by having a barbeque during the day, along within sports and yard games. Then, when the world goes dark, we light it up again with fireworks and the “illuminations,” suggested by John Adams.

These fiery explosions are a part of our history, and our culture, just as the bombs that burst in the air over our Revolution were.

In the spirit of the holiday, below are some pictures I took of the sunset and fireworks at Coventry Lake in Connecticut.
